Water Service to Mango Circle
We have had several requests for water service on Mango Circle. We are in the process of talking with residents to determine the extent of the interest for new water services. AECOM is designing a water main extension down Carandis Road from Lake Clarke Drive to Mango Circle for water supply. Enginuity is preparing easement sketches for the Town’s permanent access to Mango Circle. One homeowner is building a new home and will need service in July 2015.
Code Changes and Comprehensive Plan Update
We have engaged Jim Fleischmann to assist us with several code changes and the annual update to the Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan). Specifically, he will be helping us adjust our codes to address medical marijuana sales and dispensing facilities, senior assisted living facilities in residential areas, and extended parking in residential areas. This year we are required to modify our Comp Plan to incorporate certain pertinent sections of the South Florida Water Management District’s Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan (LECWSP). We must include components in our Comp Plan that ensure we have a sustainable water supply for our current and future customers. Finally, he will incorporate our five-year CIP into the 2015 Comp Plan update.
Elected Official Ethics Training – New State Requirements
For all elected municipal officers, a state requirement of four hours of specific ethics training went into effect January 1, 2015. This requirement includes two hours of training on Chapter 112, Florida Statutes, (ethics); one hour on Chapter 119, Florida Statutes, (open records); and one hour on Chapter 286, Florida Statutes, (open meetings). The four hour training will be held at Palm Beach State College (Lake Worth) on January 21st.
The Town went out for bid for printing services. Eight companies were notified and invited to bid. Two responded and Banyan Printing provided us with the most competitive bid. We now have the option for a four page or eight page mailed newsletter.
Palm Beach County City Manager Association (PBCCMA)
I have been appointed the Sec/Tres for the PBCCMA for 2014-2015. The Town is partnering with the School District and co-hosting the January PBCCMA lunch meeting at Forest Hill High School. Superintendent Gent will be the speaker.
