Water Service to Mango Circle
We have had several requests for water service on Mango Circle. We are in the process of talking with residents to determine the extent of the interest for new water services. AECOM is designing a water main extension down Carandis Road from Lake Clarke Drive to Mango Circle for water supply. Enginuity is preparing utility easement sketches for the Town’s permanent access to Mango Circle. One homeowner is building a new home and will need service in July 2015.
Code Changes and Comprehensive Plan Update
We have engaged Jim Fleischmann to assist us with several code changes and the annual update to the Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan). Specifically, he will be helping us adjust our codes to address medical marijuana sales and dispensing facilities, senior assisted living facilities in residential areas, and extended parking in residential areas. This year we are required to modify our Comp Plan to incorporate certain pertinent sections of the South Florida Water Management District’s Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan (LECWSP). We must include components in our Comp Plan that ensure we have a sustainable water supply for our current and future customers. Finally, he will incorporate our five-year CIP into the 2015 Comp Plan update.
New development in Seminole Manor
We have been talking with a developer’s agent about a 23 home subdivision just west of Lawrence Road in Seminole Manor. They have asked us to provide water and sewer service and we have agreed. We have asked them to locate their lift station on the south west corner of their development and dedicate it to the Town. We can then use it as a regional sewer lift station and will be prepositioned to serve the 47 acres of undeveloped property west of this development.
Palm Beach County Days 2015
Palm Beach County Days 2015 are scheduled for March 3rd and 4th in Tallahassee. As in the past, we are making preparations to attend the event this year. We have prepared a one page brief for the Legislature on our priorities. We will be meeting with our delegation and with other key committee chairs or vice-chairs as defined by our priorities.
Utility Department Information
We currently have 2144 water customers in our three water systems and we purchased 218,000,000 gallons of water last year. We also pumped 145,000,000 gallons of wastewater. We have been able to reduce our Lead and Copper testing from 80 samples per year to 20 samples every three years. We have rehabilitated 6 of our 14 lift stations including the two largest ones.
