Code Enforcement Board
I am meeting with each member of the Code Enforcement Board and discussing a variety of issues and concerns. I hope to better understand the member’s needs as a Board as well as improve and define the role of staff in relations to the Board. These discussions are going well and I believe we will be changing some procedures and creating new Board operating policies as a result of the discussions. Items such as Board Member orientation, training on Roberts Rules of Order, and conveying the Town Council’s Vision for the Town will be part of all new member orientation in the future. I’ve asked some of the current Board Members to explain some of their motions and the reasons behind their motions as they make them during the meetings as a method of helping the public and the new Board Members understand their thought process.
Community Redevelopment Authority Feasibility Study
The Lake Clarke Shores Community Redevelopment Authority project has been separated into two (2) parts. Part 1 is the adoption of the Finding of Need by the Town Council. Adoption of the Finding of Need is scheduled for the December 8th Town Council meeting. Part 2 will be the preparation of the Plan of Improvements. The Plan of Improvements is the document that will detail what the CRA will be doing for the area within its borders. On November 12th a community workshop was held at Town Hall. We had about 24 residents and a few outside interested parties attend. Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council (TCRPC) facilitated the meeting and helped the residents develop four (4) sketches of what they would like FHB to look like in the future. Dr. Kim Delaney, Director of Strategic Development and Policy, is leading the efforts for TCRPC.
LCS Sewer System Phase 2
Discussions are continuing with the Medical Condo Building (1840 FHB) property owners concerning the technical requirements to connect to our sewer system. Their plumber/contractor is talking with AECOM on the connection specifics. As we work with these property owners, we will be developing the “new connection” permitting process. Our contract with Palm Beach County is a fully loaded contract, so there are no connection fees for the sewer system. We have been asked about the Condo connection charge; it is the same as we set for Phase 1 or $13,584.38 as a single lump sum payment or $1,016.82 per year for 20 years if the condo owners wish to finance the proportionate fair share of the construction costs.
Palm Beach County Days 2016
Palm Beach County Days 2016 is scheduled for January 12th and 13th in Tallahassee. As in the past, we are making preparations to attend the event this year. We will again be preparing a one page brief for the Legislature on the Town’s priorities. We will be meeting with members of our delegation and with other key committee chairs or vice-chairs as defined by our priorities.
