2022 National Police Week

2022 National Police Week Respect. Honor. Remember. Logo

Again this year, communities across the United States will honor and remember those law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the family members, friends, and fellow officers they left behind.

This year, the names of 619 officers killed in the line of duty (319 fatalities were COVID-19-related) are being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. These 619 officers include 472 officers who were killed during 2021, plus 147 officers who died in previous years, but whose stories of sacrifice had been lost to history until now. The service and sacrifice of all officers killed in the line of duty will be honored during the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund’s 34th Annual Candlelight Vigil on the evening of May, 13, 2022.

In honor of the 2022 National Police Week, the Town of Lake Clarke Shores proclaimed the week of May 11 through 17, 2022 as National Police Week and publicly salutes the service of law enforcement officers in our community and in communities across the nation. The Town’s U.S. flag will be flown at half staff on May 15, 2022 which is designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day in honor of all fallen officers and their families.
